In the many decades I’ve been alive on this planet, it’s generally been the case that here in the UK after a general election, the incoming government enjoys a bit of a honeymoon period. This is because they’ve been seen as a fresh broom who will bring about change. Politicians and politics being what they are, the honeymoon period inevitably ends as promises remain unfulfilled and events happen that throw the plans of the new government off track. The current Labour government headed by Kier Starmer, never really had a honeymoon period. It was a bit of a shit show pretty much from the off to be honest.
A lot of that is down to the first past the post electoral system we have here in the UK which allowed Starmer to take power, even though he had the support of just one in five of all the eligible voters - this includes those who didn’t vote. This is something I looked at in this piece back in the summer: Now the election theatrics are over... 5.7.24:
Onto the election itself... Labour have indeed 'won' a massive number of seats. Yet their vote share was only 36%, down on previous elections. When you factor in a turnout that, at the time of writing could be below 60%, Labour's vote share of the total electorate that takes in those who chose to abstain falls to a point where in all honesty, they have no real legitimacy. So, who really 'won' the election? Yes folks, it was the 'None Of The Above' (NOTA) brigade who won it by choosing to stay at home rather than participate in this pretence that we have an real choice as to how the country is run: General Election turnout was ‘lowest since 1945’ - Katie Boyden | Metro | 5.7.24.
So basically, the Labour government of the UK has no legitimacy. Which may explain why they’ve proposed a whole raft of policies that are guaranteed to piss a lot of people off pretty much from the get go, presumably on the basis that they want to force through as much change as possible before a real challenge is mounted against them. These changes range from shafting pensioners with cuts to their winter fuel payments, slapping an inheritance tax on farmers through to a suicidal policy of allowing Ukraine to fire British supplied missiles into Russian territory and last but by no means least, giving Blackrock permission to screw the country in a massive asset grab. To say the mood in the country is toxic is probably an understatement. Volatile would be a more accurate description.
It hardly came as a surprise to me that a petition was started up demanding another general election. Signed by people who a) wanted to make a gesture of defiance against Starmer’s government and b) naively think that voting is actually going to make a difference. At the time of writing, the petition has been signed by over two million people and that number is rising. The UK government is obliged to respond to all petitions with over 10,000 signatures, and petitions reaching 100,000 signatures are considered before parliament. So at some point, a petition with over two million signatures calling for another general election is going to have to be considered by parliament. I think that will prove to be an ‘interesting’ discussion to say the least!
A lot of people have signed the petition without really looking into who’s behind it and what their motives are. If people are pissed off with the way the government is screwing the country over and a petition calling for another general election comes up on their radar, it’s understandable that they’ll sign it as a gesture of defiance without really looking into it. Understandable but ultimately, wrong. There are two main reasons why I think this is the case.
Firstly as an anarchist, I have absolutely no faith in our electoral system. Regarding the general election that was held back in the summer, I had this to point out about the former Tory Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak and the labour leader, Kier Starmer in this piece: Now the election theatrics are over... 5.7.24:
Sunak and Starmer are both World Economic Forum (WEF) stooges. That simple fact alone should speak volumes about the illusion of choice. Sunak was most likely pushed into calling the election by a range of actors who were fed up with the instability of the Tory government and wanted a 'safer pair of hands' in place to carry on with the project of implementing the great reset. Actors that include the likes of the WEF, the bankers and the corporations amongst others.
If voting in a new government actually had the potential to achieve real, radical change, do you seriously think the real movers and shakers behind the scenes would allow that to happen? Yes, I know the post World War Two Labour government has been credited with bringing about what many have called radical change, with the creation of the National Health Service (NHS) and the instigation of the welfare state. At that point, Britain was exhausted after fighting in the war and it was accepted by the powers that be that the populace had to be given some tangible benefits in order to secure social peace. It needs to be understood that these are just concessions. The creeping privatisation of the NHS and Starmer more or less declaring war on people claiming benefits is clear evidence that these concessions are being clawed back. This is what those who wield the real power behind government, the corporations and the bankers, are demanding and getting.
The blunt truth is that no election is going to change that. Real change will only happen when the corporations and bankers who pull the strings of government are confronted and ultimately taken down, once and for all. That requires a revolution. One that needs to be built from the grassroots upwards without any hierarchies or leaders, not the vanguardist crap that ends up replacing one shite system with another. I don’t for one minute claim to have any kind of a blueprint for a revolution. All I can say is don’t trust self styled leaders, messiahs and/or vanguardists under any circumstances.
Secondly, when a petition like the one calling for another general election gains an unprecedented amount of traction, it’s worth taking a few steps back to try and rationally assess what’s going on, who’s getting played and what the real agenda is. In these weird and increasingly dystopian times, we can’t afford to take anything at face value. A number of mainstream and alternative commentators have been looking at what the real agenda may be behind this position. Firstly, there’s this from the Independent: Who are the 2 million people demanding a general election? Crunching the numbers behind the viral petition - Alicja Hagopian | Independent | 26.11.24.
The petition was only set up on November 20, but has already received over 2,184,000 signatures at the time of writing.
The majority of signatories to the petition are concentrated in Conservatives or Reform safe seats.
Many of the names in these seats may seem familiar, as vocal critics of the current Labour government. The MPs in constituencies where the petitions have received the most signatures include leader of the opposition Kemi Badenoch, former leadership hopeful James Cleverly, and topping the list, Alex Burghart.
The petition is highly popular among constituents of Reform leaders Richard Tice and Nigel Farage, with 9,550 signatures between the two constituencies.
It should be noted that on his X platform, Elon Musk is heavily pushing this petition, along with a number of other Trump allies. Some of our readers may be asking – well, what’s wrong with that? Well, here’s an interesting take that goes some way to answering that question: Political puppet ping-pong - Miri AF | Substack | 25.11.24. Miri starts by pointing this out:
When a petition such as this gains massive momentum very quickly, is picked up by multiple mainstream media vehicles, and is promoted by highly visible establishment figures such as Richard Tice and even Elon Musk, we know something is up.
Then there’s this which I make no apology for quoting at length because it throws some interesting light on what agendas the bastards may well have lined up for us mere plebs:
I don't know for sure if the country will go to the polls again, but I can't really see the purpose of the establishment making this petition quite so prominent if that isn't the end goal.
I have a pretty good idea of what the cabal wants in place politically, and I'm not sure they can wait until 2029 (which is when the UK is currently set to next have a General Election) to get it.
What does said cabal want?
Well, it's extremely significant to mention that Reform leader, Nigel Farage, is a very good friend of none other than tech billionaire and political "kingmaker", Peter Thiel.
Regular readers will remember Thiel's name from our explorations into American Vice President, JD Vance.
Vance is effectively a Thiel-owned puppet, who has been heavily influenced and bankrolled by the tech titan since university (and it's my contention that it was Thiel who put him up to writing his memoirs and ensured they became world-famous, rather than the story Vance himself gives about "being inspired to write them by a professor").
Who is Peter Thiel? He's an inordinately wealthy authoritarian technocrat who is heavily invested in AI and despises ordinary people (he was an early investor in the so-called "seasteading" movement, where rich people pay extravagant amounts of money to live in the middle of the ocean on floating manmade micro-islands, free from the eternal bother of the rest of us).
He's also made his antipathy for any idea of political equality explicitly clear, and, like many wealthy autocrats throughout history, doesn't think women or poor people should vote.
Mr. Thiel, who is gay, asserts to believe that women voting is bad for democracy - so bad, in fact, that female involvement in politics may have rendered the very concept of democracy itself into an oxymoron. He's also not at all keen on anyone in receipt of state benefits being permitted to have a political voice.
Thiel has even gone so far as to state that "freedom [for people like him] and democracy [for the rest of us] are not compatible".
Basically, he believes in an anti-democratic future where a cabal of super-wealthy transhumanist technocrats tell the rest of us what to do, and, by ploughing his vast fortune into American politics and getting his boy JD into the second-most powerful political job in the land, he's doing pretty well at realising this vision... but only for America, right?
Wrong, unfortunately.
Thiel has already firmly set his sights on the UK too, with his highly reviled data harvesting company, Palantir, having secured a £330 million NHS data contract (yes, 330 million, of course).
Palantir also won the contract - unopposed - to run the NHS Covid Datastore.
I’m aware that Miri AF is not everyone’s cup of tea. I also accept that she can be pretty controversial and provocative at times. Even though I don’t always agree with Miri AF, I find what she has to say thought provoking, that’s why I follow her Substack. That’s also why I’ve just quoted her thoughts on the agendas at play behind this petition at some length because I think in this case, she’s making some very valid points which really do need to be taken on board.
One thing it does show is that the bastards behind the scenes pulling the strings, the tech bros, the corporations and the bankers, don’t always sing from the same hymn sheet. There are factions within what has been termed the ‘criminocracy’ - Criminocracy and its lies - Paul Cudenec | 26.6.23. Another thing it shows is that all the factions of the criminocracy have malign agendas that will truly screw us over if they’re allowed the opportunity.
What’s the message that can be taken away from this? Firstly, please don’t take anything at face value. In the screwed up dystopia we have to endure, there are always malign players with agendas who do not have our interests at heart. They will quite happily play on and manipulate our discontent and anger, twisting it to suit their own nefarious agendas. This is exactly what’s happening with this petition calling for another general election. It really is a case of be very careful of what you wish for. Please don’t let yourself bet played by shadowy, very well funded, malign actors who most definitely do want to totally screw us over.
As an anarchist, I have a naturally suspicious view of all politicians. And was not totally gobsmacked by the Starmer alarmerama. I have a deep suspicion that a re-run is unlikely to provide a stunning change from capitalism to er........socialism? marxism?anarchism(definitely NOT)....., so I'm not signing the fu...sorry, bloody thing. I do vote, on the basis of damage limitation, or scrawl ' no worthwhile candidate' in red ink across the ballot paper (red ink means it's noticed.)
I could not agree more. James Corbett recently did a 3-part deep dive into Thiel and his behind-the-scenes political machinations. And there is a petition against Palantir's involvement in the NHS. https://nopalantir.org.uk/
Not sure how effective it will be, but it's probably more genuine than the "Call a General Election" one.
