I was having another look around the archives and found this piece. Given the ongoing controversies about the use of parks in Bristol for festivals, encouraged by a city council desperate for revenue, I thought it was worth posting this up here on Substack. It should be noted that this post was written when we were living back in Essex.
Well said and I am fortunate to live in a conurbation with a large amount of public parkland. Though since the summer of 2022, I've noticed a disturbing trend of those semi-spherical CCTV (facial recognition?) cameras being installed in public parks on the pretext of 'crime prevention', but for the real reason of surveillance.
