For the time being, posting on this blog is on hold. The reason for this being that I want to put the time and energy I have available in to this blogging project:
This is the mission statement for At the grassroots which I hope many of you will buy into:
It’s easy to know what you’re against in a dysfunctional, unsustainable and increasingly dystopian world. Railing against the world we have to endure may make you feel better but…does it lead to positive change? We know that the political, economic and social system we inhabit is rapidly heading towards its use by date and that we have to bring about radical change if we’re going to survive. There are many ways of bringing about the change that’s needed. What this project is about is what can be done in the here and now to boost sustainability, community cohesion and neighbourhood resilience in an increasingly volatile world. It’s about building the new world we need and want in the decaying shell of the old one we currently endure.
At the grassroots has only been up on Substack for a short while but, the number of subscribers and the views it's getting are growing at a steady rate. Not spectacular, but, a heck of a lot better compared to when it was hosted on Wordpress. For quite a while, I was trying to integrate At the grassroots in with this Stirrings from below blog. A point was reached where I decided that it wasn't working and that a separate blog promoting projects and ideas that can bring about change in the here and now was needed. Hence the new At the grassroots blog on Substack.
There were moments when this Stirrings from below blog did come close to being binned because I wanted to get away from the doom spiral. However, thinking about the work that I've put into this blog held me back from doing that. That would have been too drastic a step to take. What I have done is clear out all of the At the grassroots branded posts that were on here. This is to ensure that there's a clear difference between the two blogs which are now stand alone projects, each with their own distinct focus and identity. That's stand alone in that the two blogs don't even carry links to each other!
At some point, when I have the time and energy after building up the At the grassroots blog, I will resume blogging here on Stirrings from below. At this point, I can't honestly say when that will be. Given the way that the shite is hitting the fan, and the multiple clusterf**ks that we're sliding into, a resumption will probably happen before the end of this year, possibly earlier than that. Meanwhile, more work behind the scenes will be undertaken to get this blog streamlined and fit for purpose in readiness for when posting resumes...
So, you're lighting a candle instead of complaining about the darkness. Shine on, Stirrer!
